Autumn in Angola

This was a busy week in northern Indiana. Who knew missionaries could have soooo much fun!

This was our attempt at a "selfie" taken at the Auburn County Fair on Friday.
We attended the Angola Civil War Days and American History Fest on Saturday. This included touring the early American encampments and displays and watching the re-enactment of the Battle of the Crater at Commons Park.

Next, on to Fall Fest in downtown Angola!

But, best of all was Mandy's baptism Saturday afternoon! What a wonderful addition to our branch. We are so proud of her!

Johnny Appleseed

We had a great time Saturday at the 40th Annual Johnny Appleseed Festival in Fort Wayne. The weather was beautiful, the entertainment grand, the exhibits and demonstrations enlightening, and the food yummy.
We learned a lot about Johnny, as well! John Chapman was born in Leominster, Massachusetts on September 26, 1774. He learned all about apples as a young man working for a neighbor who owned an apple orchard. At age eighteen he headed west. Johnny ran his "apple business" for approximately 50 years in Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Indiana. He is buried in Fort Wayne at the Archer Cemetery, now known as the Johnny Appleseed Park.

Gone Fishin'

Our little "fishers of men" became actual fish fishers Monday when the District went fishing at Pleasant Lake. Glad we didn't have to rely on their fishing skills to supply us with lunch!

The event was held at Patrick's house.

Our old group - farewell to Sister Sofele and Elder Ralphs.

Take Me Out to the Ballgame

What do you get when you bring @ 250 missionaries together in Cincinnati for a Reds baseball game? A whole bunch of fun!!! Never mind that the Reds lost and the Cardinals won. The missionaries just loved "catching up" with everyone...and the $1 hotdogs were a big hit, as well!

Sibling Company

The visit was way too short, but we sure enjoyed time spent with Elder Mac's sister Laura and her husband Russ. Thanks, you two, for including us in your vacation plans to the Northeast.

We are always willing to go to Shipshewana!

Again, a big "thank you" to Jim and Joann Stanley for another wonderful evening on Clear Lake.

(We were in good hands)

Well, that went fast!

Labor Day

No P-day for the mission today. Instead, our district met at Fireman's Park in Angola and did a terrific job of chalking out the Plan of Salvation. Impressive, don't you think?! (P-day will be tomorrow)
